Should I book man with a van in advance or can I call and book?

mitigating moving stress

We are often called in a morning or even in an afternoon and asked for a van right now. Our anser is YES but it will cost you 40% more. Why?, our customer ask. The answer is,  it is depending on our readiness, availability and willing to work at a extremely short notice.

During the months of May – October which are busy in our sector, we take bookings well in advance, but sometimes are able to squeeze in the same day or even in an hour jobs. As our drivers and movers are prepared to work for a certain amount of hours that day, when a customer calls in for the same day move, we have to motivate out people to work even longer hours and travel extra time and finish even later than normal.

Calendar with a reminder

To pay the normal rates, please book your move as early as possible.

Same day bookings

in the last 10 years, what we noticed is that a number of people have changed their behavior and are now expecting most services to be avaivalble RIGHT NOW, and some companies  Like UBER, BOLT, Deliveroo and there are others, that business model is profitable – for us though it is impossible.

In the past not so long ago, it was normal when we received our inquiries to respond to the people in the evening and book then for 3-4 days later or even 2-4 weeks later. Around about 2015, some man and van websites started to advertise, at least on their home pages an immediate service within an HOUR which would have meant they have either a huge amount of vans which are expensive or having access to 100’s of self employed van owner drivers, who must have been ready and available all day and had to sit and wait for the call to arrive and get on the van immediately to serve the demanding customer who was expecting 2 men with a van in 5 mins or so and at the cheapest price possible and provide the 5* service as well. Most of you would know that if provided, the service will be at a very low quality.

A Man With a Van professional normaly operates in an opposite way. Some of the times, we are able to take on board a same day move, but most of the time we expect our customers to book in advance. Why? I hear this question again. As simple as it is, we operate on a regular basis with only 3 new vehicles and we are based in North and South London and can cover the whole of Greater London within 2 hours as long as there is availability. If booked well in advance, it will be charged at the normal rates which are published, but if on the same day, it will cost more and you have to be prepared for it.

Being Professional man with a van, who only do removals, as opposed to some unprofessional people who buy their vans for rubbish removals or parcels delivery or newspapers delivery and other services, we book our future moves meticulously for the weeks ahead so that we be on time, reliable, relaxed and professionaly undertake each job with pride and no prejudice and be able to carry out the work in the quoted hours and there are no delays expected or unexpected.

Sometimes, it is quiet out there, which means that in most cases we will be able to book you in within 2 hours, but as explained it will cost 40% more as we have to prepare and gather a team in a extreme short notice, which requires extra motivation and mental attitude of “How Can I best help” so, next time be better prepared than the last and book well in advance so that you’re not disappointed.

So book in advance you say? But how mush in advance?

1. May – October are the months where London man and van are working very hard and long hours at that,  so the normal bookings are a week in advance or even 2. Some people are lucky and we take same day, previous day or 2 days in advance booking as well.

2. If you want to move Fri – Sat, please, book 4 days erlier at least as it very busy. If you want to book for a set time and you’re not flexible, £24 extra will be charged.

3. Weekdays are less busy and short notice man and van jobs are possible and last minute bookings are most prevalent. If there is availability, we can be everywhere in Greater London in 2 hours time.

Best Tips for Immediate bookings

Yes, Absolutely, you will 100% hear from us  everytime you call. If we can, we will move you and at the requested time as well. if not, we will say so. please, note, we operate a network of 150 extra van drivers and most certailnly with exclusion of the most busy weeks of the summer be able to accomodate you.
